ISE

The Columbia Center for Integrated Science and Engineering is a Columbia University research department in both the School of Arts & Sciences and the School of Engineering and Applied Science.

The Center presently supports multi-disciplinary research in the Departments of Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering and Physics. The department's staff supports principal investigators in all administrative aspects of grant management. ISE serves as liaison to central university departments including the Office of Projects and Grants, Human Resources, the Controller's Office, Purchasing, Accounts Payable and Facilities.

Among the many streamlined processes the center has designed is a unique computerized accounting system. This system produces monthly reconciliations and performs muliple reporting functions. Indeed, a previous release was used as the model for the university-wide financial frontend (FFE). In addition, the center sponsors at least 15-20 seminars per semester which bring diverse experts nationwide to speak to the university community.
