Columbia
University created Science & Technology Ventures
(S&TV) to facilitate the transfer of scientific
discovery and innovation from the university setting
into the marketplace.
Science
and Technology Ventures works closely with interested
faculty campus wide to:
- Identify
and evaluate new inventions
- Arrange
for intellectual property (IP) protection including
patents and copyrights for materials including
software and multimedia processes
- Forge
links to industry to inform them of new inventions,
negotiating licensing agreements, and creating
collaborative research agreements
- Advise
venture capital and investment groups about
new investments
- Facilitate
the start-up of new companies
S&TV
will work closely with the Columbia Nanotechnology
Initiative to build stronger relationships with
the industrial and financial world to market the
discoveries, foster research collaboration and
create new business all based of Columbia's technology.
