Phase Transitions in Nanocrystals
Closely linked to the synthesis of novel nanocrystals in MRSEC research
is understanding the phase transitions and phase stability in these
nanocrystals as a function of size and composition. One example is the
phase stability is described in figure 1 for CeZrO2 nanocrystals grown by room temperature liquid phase methods. (See figure 2 for a TEM of
CeO2-y.)
