MRSEC High School Visit Program Completes First Year
In
June, 2000, the MRSEC completed the first year of its program
to visit high schools in NYC to foster the interests of students
in science and technology by showing them the marvels of materials
science and engineering through hands-on demonstrations and discussion.
In the nine high schools so far visited in Manhattan and the Bronx,
about 1000 students were involved in demonstrations describing
topics ranging from work hardening of metals to superconductivity.
We hope to expand this program to other boroughs in NYC and to
middle schools.
