Plumeflow Project

Investigations using Plume Flow Tanks
George Stengren, The Heritage School
Introduction - Lesson Plan
The Heritage School is a public high school located in East Harlem, New York City; the school has an enrollment of approximately 300 students. Advanced Placement Environmental Science was first offered as an elective for juniors and seniors during the 2002-2003 school year. The following activities were developed for use of the Plume Flow Tanks ("sand tanks") to help students understand both qualitative and quantitative aspects of subsurface groundwater movement. A brief list of textual and online resources is appended for reference and further investigation.
